Justice Burger: justice is served!

Posted by Ryan LePage on December 6, 2016 at 2:34 PM

Hello everyone! First off, let me wish all of you who are students luck as we go into the final exam period – remember that marks do not define you, stay hydrated, and remember to study! If you do find yourself in need of some protein to power the ol’ gray matter, look no further than the delicious goodness that is Justice Burger! Justice Burger is located at 77 King St. East in Oshawa. It's literally right beside Smoke’s Poutinerie for reference. If you're a student, it's across from the Regent Theatre, just further east. If you're taking transit, you would take the 401 Simcoe, and get off at King & Centre, then walk east for a couple of minutes. Soon enough, the journey will be complete, and you too can be served JUSTICE!

Justice Burger is run by a group of young entrepreneurs all under 30, who also all live in Oshawa, so they understand the value of having local goodness. In connection with this – they use only local ingredients that are always fresh, with organic produce. The burgers use Ontario beef, and they are never frozen so that they can maintain a delicious warmth all the way to your stomach. If having fresh produce and beef is not enough of a draw for you, all of the sauces used on their burgers are made in-house. But I am making my own mouth water thinking about it, so it’s about time for me to focus on the glorious food!

Smoke's Weinerie Review

Posted by Ryan LePage on January 21, 2016 at 11:20 AM

Happy New Year to all of you beautiful readers out there and I hope that 2016 is a positive one for you! With the winter semester underway you must be thinking "now where can I get some delicious new food to try?" Or maybe, more specifically, you're wondering if there's a place where you can customize your own delicious hot dog.

Fear not, for I have your answer, as this month I had the opportunity to review Smoke’s Weinerie, a new restaurant that opened up right beside Smoke’s Poutinerie at 77 King Street East in Oshawa! As the name implies, it's under the same Smoke’s banner as the Poutinerie, but this time, the focus is on the king of all street food: the hot dog.

Avanti Trattoria: A little slice of Italy within Downtown Oshawa

Posted by Ryan LePage on December 11, 2015 at 10:15 AM

Final exams are here and I wish you all the best of luck, but finals also mean that a break for the holidays is coming! Today, I review Avanti Trattoria, a sit-down Italian restaurant in downtown Oshawa at 17 King Street East – right across from the Regent Theatre. They have great meals at great prices for students given the upscale atmosphere and quality of the place. But before I get into my review of Avanti – if you did not have the opportunity to read my last blog, I checked out a new downtown sports bar: 15 Sports and Grill!

Welcome to 15 Sports & Grill

Posted by Ryan LePage on November 24, 2015 at 10:44 AM

Hello UOIT students, we meet again! If you didn't get the opportunity to read my last piece on the top four burritos near UOIT, you should give it a read. I assure you that it's full of guacamole goodness! This month I'm doing things differently with a restaurant spotlight on a fairly new restaurant in downtown Oshawa: 15 Sports & Grill, located at 15 Simcoe Street North. They recently opened this past August, replacing The Hub, and for my UOIT students it's right beside the Education Building (11 Simcoe St. N), so it's easily accessible!

They have their logo frosted along the windows so you can't miss it – and when you walk in you know you've entered a sports bar as they have some Jays memorabilia right near the door. They can seat about 85 people at capacity and have a multitude of booths available. Each booth is close to at least one of their multiple TVs, and sports-themed decor lines the wall.
