Golf

The Ridgebacks Golf team came out strong at the Toronto Invitational, with four athletes finishing with rounds in the 70s. James Krantz (pictured left), who was been named UOIT Athlete of the week twice in September, got the team's lowest score of 74 at the Invitational. Nicklaus Dirk, Ben Kennedy and Riley Prentice all finished with rounds of 78 which gave the Ridgebacks a team score of 308.

The OUA Championships will take place at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club from October 19 to 20, which will mark UOIT's second year in a row playing host to the tournament.

Women's Lacrosse

The Ridgebacks women's lacrosse team's season was off to an exciting start when Taylor Landry, who was named the UOIT Athlete of the week alongside21693425901_7ae85f44b8_z-587015-edited.jpg James Krantz, managed to score her seventh goal of the season within the last 38 seconds of the game against Trent Excalibur. The win came off the heels of the team's first loss of the season against Toronto Varsity Blues in the OUA bronze medal match earlier in the day, which the team lost 13-5.

During weekend play, the Ridgebacks managed to extend their unbeaten streak to five with a tie against Brock University (11-11) and a win over University of Guelph (9-7.)

Tennis

The UOIT Ridgebacks tennis team has had a slow start to their fall season, being defeated at home by York University and University of Waterloo. The women's and men's teams fought hard against McMaster during their matches, but both teams lost over the September 26-27 weekend.

Be sure to come out and cheer on the Ridgebacks during their next home games!

Rowing

The rowing team had a good showing at the Western Invitational, the second regatta of the season for the team, with the team's best finish in the women's doubles heavyweight with a time of 18:43.7 headrace and 2:35.2 dash time for Daria Ruginis and Rhiannon Dearman.

Five crews made it to the podium while UOIT was at Head of the Welland on September 26, including the men's Novice 4 crew in their racing debut with a gold in their race. The crew, which consisted of Bilal Bhatti, Jamie Barletta, Christien Langevin, Frobisher Moses and Khalil Sidawi, posted a time of 23:02.737 which was well ahead of the Argonaut rowing club. The Ridgebacks also picked up silvers in the women's and men's singles events, the varsity men's four also picked up a podium place, and the women's double crew picked up a bronze medal.

The team headed to Trent on October 3 for Head of the Trent. Coming up, they'll be at Brock on October 17 for Brock Invitational, and then again to Brock on October 23 for the OUA Development Regatta.

Women's Soccer

The women's soccer team's overall record for the season by the end of September is 5-2-1, coming off a shutout against Ryerson University on the road. Shynice Williams, who was named UOIT Athlete of the week in September, picked up the goal of the game, which was her fourth goal of the season.

The Ridgebacks won over RMC to increase their win streak to three on September 27, dominating the game with 19 shots on goal over RMC's one shot. The women's team is now 4th in the OUA east division.

Men's Soccer

The Men's soccer team's overall record for the season by the end of September is 3-5-2 after the team swept Trent in a late September series.
